This is a newsletter about politics and culture.

The title of the newsletter is a portmanteau of

1. Guy Debord’s book The Society of The Spectacle, a book that examines the excesses of consumer culture and the impact of mass media, as well as predicting today’s dominance of social media.

2. The concept of standpoint epistemology, an idea that is deeply baked into today’s culture wars.

I do not identify with any political ideology in particular. I seek rationality and truth. I believe in individual liberty, due process, personal privacy, and freedom of opinion— issues I believe are losing their place in American society.
