Class bias infects the thought processes of too many people. I'm a 62-yr-old "white" woman, retired US Navy and former landlady. A rental we held onto for almost 2 decades and then sold was waterfront and in a gated community. We could never afford to live there and we went without in order to make the long-term investment, but our home is in a rural area where there's much poverty. The security alarm on the rental condo (empty at the time) was accidentally tripped during an inspection and I had to go out there to meet the sheriff. He was so careful talking to me I almost laughed. My perception was that he was going out of his way not to offend me. He must have thought I had a team of lawyers at beck and call. On the other hand, I've had encounters with law enforcement in the rural area due to the crime in our area and I get treated by about half of them as if I'm automatically considered to be a problem and a criminal. There's zero doubt in my mind that 99% of the problems in our society are class biases masquerading as "white adjacent." Great article!

Superb insights. I look forward to seeing how society unfolds regarding the burgeoning Asian/Jewish intersection. I am Jewish and fellow politically conservative Jews do their best to "pass" as progressive liberals. Or non Jewish altogether. It is just so much safer politically at the very least.
