It's a great article, but I think it's missing a key point.

We're living through a socialist cultural revolution. Erasing history is a means of seizing power and redefining the culture.

We're being shaped as a country and as a people to wipe out our roots so the soul of America can be reborn as a totalitarian, international, socialist vassal state.

We said they wouldn't stop with Confederates, and this is why. They won't stop erasing everything that represents our roots, because those are white men and the socialists hate white men.

Funny that you mention the Puritans, because Woke Progressivism while Marxist in nature, is also Calvinistic in its foundation. John Calvin believed that an "elect" were created by god, preordained before birth as his "Chosen," with the rest of mankind being the eternal damned, no good deed or act could change their fate.

Calvinists are the modern-day Presbyterians, with other Protestant sects also influenced by this philosophy like Baptists, Methodists, Church of Christ, the Congregational Church, etc.. Their religious fervor, their castigation of the "un-elect," and their intense need to burn anyone who does not agree with them as a witch has never left.

Many of today's White "progressives" are the secular remnants of John Calvin's flock, former Presbyterians and Methodists, I know many of them. They are despicable people, incapable of any meaningful thought or authentic self expression. The Woke/Progressive/Marxist religion is also the Presbyterian/Calvinist religion, only now they are "secular humanists."

I can see them persecuting Quakers, the shear jealousy of anyone authentically just or good would make every true Presbyterian explode in jealous rage. They are despicable people, and have not changed a bit since the day they landed in Plymouth, Massachusetts -

Progressives have an odd relationship with this. On the one hand, progressives see history as demonic. They profess with complete certainty that their current ideas will be “on the right side of history” and that it’s only a matter of time before anyone who disagrees is seen as a monster. They also largely claim to be atheist and yet subscribe to strict moral codes, but if they’re atheist, then where are these moral codes coming from? They talk about women’s rights, and yet, when expressions of Islam that suppress women’s rights come up, they suddenly become moral relativists.

I'm reminded of Origen of Alexandria (third-century Christian theologian and philosopher, the first of any worth & tremendously influential; tortured for refusing to renounce his faith during the Decian persecutions) being posthumously condemned as a heretic in the fifth century. In spite of his contributions, he was on the wrong side of an orthodoxy that had still been in the process of crystallizing during his own lifetime, and ambitious churchmen circa 400 AD had scores to settle.

The politics of trying to harness the energy of chauvinistic zealots (or capitulating to it) for one's own advantage might be ancient, but somehow it still seems so appallingly fresh at every new instance.

In Progressive world the revolution never ends and there are always more dragons to slay. Even the friendly ones from the past.

Bizarre. petty and intentionally political. I will be chaining myself to the man, and I'm serious. This ends.

Curiously, the NPS announcement at https://www.nps.gov/inde/learn/news/park-seeks-input-on-the-rehabilitation-of-welcome-park.htm suggests the existence of a public comment period from Jan 8th to Jan 21st - yet there's nothing to be found at https://parkplanning.nps.gov/ - charitably maybe they just haven't put it up yet, as it's currently the 8th. They're busy with lots of important things after all.

When they do deign to put up the public comment page, everyone reading this should leave a note of strongly worded protest, at a bare minimum.

Exceptionally well written. Flawlessly expresses the mental disorder commonly referred to as “progressivism”.

The notion of "Right Side of History" is so close to being a secularization of Christ's second coming.

I posit that the (at least) unconscious motivation of progressives to remove Penn's stature is that they can't bear the psychological strain of knowing that the very values by which they condemn the dead white Christian males of yore are almost entirely the creation on dead white Christian males of yore, and moreover that said dead white Christian males exhibited far greater courage and character in defense of those ideals than anyone is called upon to do so in a modern American university setting. American universites are populated by spoiled, entitled, hysterical and historically illiterate brats, overflowing with venomous envy and resentment for genuine achievements they will never equal, let alone surpass. I'm glad they're ripping down statues, though. Every such gesture of theatrical narcissism will wake up more people to the moral and intellectual rot that has enfeebled the American university system.
